PAGS monthly golf tournament
It was a perfect day for golf, for the 76 golfers, including 8 ladies at the Pattavia course for the July New Nordic Pattaya Amateur Golf Society (PAGS) tournament.
Todd Fox (H/cap 34) was arguably the best performer on the day, breaking 100 strokes for his first time and signing for an outstanding 47 points to clearly outstrip the other C Flight competitors. The other podium spots for C flight, for handicaps 21+, were also good scores; Gary Jones (26) with a fine 42 points to go with his near pin on #7, while Helmut Wolf (29) also had a solid 40 points for third spot.
A Flight, for handicaps 0–13, was won by Gerd Riedler (12) with a spectacular 44 points, to go with his approach on #8. The minor places required countbacks with both players on 39 points. Keith Etherington (9) led the way with a last 6 hole tally of 13, while Daniel Grob (12) had 12, after both had 21 on the back 9. Daniel did have some consolation though, picking up technical prizes on #3 and #5.
B Flight for handicaps 14–20 saw another close run tussle requiring a countback to decide the winner. Jari Laakonen (15) was triumphant over Joerg Mueller (16) 16/15, again to the last 6 holes after both had signed for strong 42 points, and back 9s of 22. Sirawat Aphornsap (17) picked up the bronze medal position with his 41 points, to go with his Long Drive on #18 in the 55–64 age group.
The ladies winner was regular New Nordic PAGS competitor Prasang O’Connor (21) with a creditable 36 points.
Low Gross winner was Tony Pike (0) with 75 to go with his technical prizes on #6 and #9. Further honourable mentions go out to Kim Danboise, Steve Truelove, Peter Park and Jeeranan Duncan.
Next month’s final event of the year will be held at Eastern Star on 28 August.
