PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, August 31, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

Thirteen golfers with high expectations gathered for the Growling Swan’s monthly outing to Pattaya Country Club.  This is a course that improves with every visit and once again we were not disappointed.  The recent rain had certainly helped as this left the fairways in good nick.  The management team must also be complimented as the level of service provided at Pattaya Country Club continues to rule in the region.

The weather was somewhat overcast to start, with no threat of rain, but as the day got longer the sun had appeared and this made it a little uncomfortable.

Martin Todd rose to the top to win by 2 points from Alan ‘the Colonel’ Sanders who finished 2 ahead of three other players tied on 34 points; Paul Jackson winning this count back from John Anderson and Khan Speechley.

Thursday, Sept. 3, Silky Oaks – Stableford

Thursday’s outing to Silky Oaks attracted 21 golfers all full of enthusiasm, and dare I say it, optimism.  Overcast conditions prevailed all day and although rain threatened us all day we managed to stay dry and play in superb golfing weather.

Stu Rifkin was informed on 1st tee by his caddy “no out of bounds” for 18 holes.  However she forgot to tell him about the water hazards.  Then there were two gents with short memories, Bernie (40 points) and Ebrahim (42 points) who were previously heard to say, “I will NEVER play here again”.  Short memories indeed!

This course is a work in progress at present but most if not all (excluding one gentleman first timer with figures of 10 and 14 points 24 total) seemed to enjoy the experience.  Anyway, it was a brave effort to top the podium by stalwart supporter Ebrahim who came up just short on a count back loss to Andrew Turtle, both with 42 points on the card.  The recently arrived Graham Rice booked third spot with 41.

1st David Andrew Allen (32) 42pts

2nd Ebrahim  (16) 42pts

3rd Graham Rice (13) 41pts

4th Lindsey Slender (24) 40pts

5th Bernie McCart (32) 40pts

Near Pins: 3rd Jim Groves, 6th Freddy Starbeck, 8th Stu Rifkin, 14th Alan Sanders, 16th JJ Harney.

Long Putts: 9th & 18th Stu Rifkin.
