IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Society

Sunday, May 1, Green Valley – Stableford

The present hot weather seems to be helping rather than hindering our golfers as for the past few weeks the scores have improved dramatically.  While today wasn’t quite as good as last week’s it wasn’t far from it and if you didn’t play to your handicap you weren’t in the prizes.

Michael Williams, after a very good score last week today had to settle for fifth place with a level handicap thirty six points and while he didn’t manage to get an ace today at least he still got a ‘2’.

Rod Torrie.

Joe McArdle occupied fourth place with thirty eight points and then we had two players on thirty nine points, with Allan Parker winning the count back to come second and Donal McGuigan losing it and coming third.

The best score of the day by far and his lowest ever gross round of golf came from Rod Torrie with an excellent forty three points for a clear win.  Rod has been hoping to get his handicap down to single figures and this score puts him well on the way to doing that.

1st Rod Torrie (13) 43pts

2nd Allan Parker (11) 39pts

3rd Donal McGuigan (18) 39pts

4th Joe McArdle (13) 38pts

5th Michael Williams (14) 36pts

2’s: Dan Hobbs and Michael Williams.

Tuesday, May 3, Greenwood – Stableford

We were back at Greenwood today after an absence of over two years and I have to say we found the course to be what is in probably the best condition of any we have played in a long time, and that includes many courses which are a lot more expensive than it was here.  It is definitely the best value for money in the area when you take in to account the layout and the condition and all our group were very happy with it.

Phil  Brown.

We were back down to earth today with the scoring after what we had last week.  The best score today came from Phil Brown and although he didn’t manage to play to his handicap he still won with thirty four points – and to make it an even better payday Phil also got the only ‘2’ of the day.

We then had two players on thirty three points with Ted Morris winning the count back to come second and Serge Straeten taking third.  Joe McLoughlin claimed the fourth and last podium place with thirty two.

1st Phil Brown (13) 34pts

2nd Ted Morris (14) 33pts

3rd Serge Straeten (17) 33pts

4th Joe McLoughlin (22) 32pts

‘2’s: Phil Brown.
