IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, May 3, St. Andrews – Stableford

Today we were in St. Andrews as there was a pro championship on at Green Valley.  We had a smaller group than usual out as many of our friends decided to take the day off to watch the boxing on TV instead.

Again the course was in beautiful condition but the greens were quite slow.  The scoring wasn’t very good and Kevin Blake was very surprised to find out he had won with just thirty three points.  Brendan Roddy and Joe Peters both had thirty two but Brendan won out on the count back to put Joe into third place.

Sean Connolly had the only ‘2’ of the day.

1st Kevin Blake (8) 33pts

2nd Brendan Roddy (23) 32pts

3rd Joe Peters (22) 32pts

Tuesday, May 5, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

We virtually had a private golf course all to ourselves today at Mountain Shadow for the first nine holes. When we came on to the tenth we discovered that they had put out a few groups in front of us but to their credit they played quickly and were never a problem and we completed our round in under four hours, which is very good.

We had a small group out today and only one golfer managed to break his handicap, that being Joe McArdle who scored thirty eight points to win by five from Phelim Moran in second.

We had no ‘2’s today.

1st Joe McArdle (14) 38pts

2nd Phelim Moran (9) 33pts

Thursday, May 7, Burapha – Stableford

Back on the A and B courses again today at Burapha.  We were very lucky in that while it looked very much like rain for most of the round, with lots of thunder in the background, we all got around without getting wet.

We decided to play off the long blue tees today, which now seem to be the most popular with our group.  Considering the length of the course we had some very good scores, both from the low and high handicappers.  Mark Stanley won the day with thirty seven points while Pat Carty, who was playing his last game with us before returning to Ireland, came second with thirty six after beating Mark Lang on a count back.

Joe Peters won another count back to take fourth place over Mark Armstrong.

There were three ‘2’s recorded, one each from Mark Stanly, Phelim Moran and William Bishop.

1st Mark Stanly (8) 37pts

2nd Pat Carty (25) 36pts

3rd Mark Lang (5) 36pts

4th Joe Peters (22) 32pts

5th Mark Armstrong (25) 32pts
