This month we again had a new winner and as he is also a resident here he will be taking part in the big one next month.  After losing out on the count back a few months ago, this month it was Shaun Tracy’s turn to come out on top and he won both the A Flight and the medal with a net seventy-two.  Joe McArdle took the second place with a net seventy four, beating Lyle Blaw on a count back.

Frank McGowan lost out on his second medal of the year but won the B Flight as consolation, also with a net seventy-two.  In second place was Joe Peters on net seventy-six and Anthony Dillon again made the podium in third with a net seventy-seven.

Another beautiful day for golf at in Mountain Shadow where we were joined by our friends from the PFGS.  A nice breeze was blowing, not enough to affect the golf but it made it a perfect temperature for playing.  As usual we played off both the blue and white tees to suit everyone.

John Fenwick.

Today we had something very special happen: Nick Caulfield, a PFGS member, had a hole in one.  The odds of accomplishing the feat are around 12,500 to 1 but this was actually Nick’s eighth, which it why it was very special indeed.  I am not sure what the odds on having eight are but I would expect that it is at least 1,000,000 to 1 and it puts Nick in a very exclusive club indeed.

Nick also came out the winner of the blue flight with thirty-seven points, with Michael Healy finally finding his form after a shaky start for this trip and coming second with thirty six.  Daryl Burkett was his usual steady self and came third with thirty five while Nick Looby and Mark Lang took fourth and fifth respectively.

Off the white tees John Fenwick was the winner with thirty-seven points.  Ted Morris took second place with thirty four and Frank McGowan the third and last place in this flight with thirty three.

Both Marc Brunner and Jon Batty had a ‘2’ but today they got nothing as Nick’s hole in one scooped the substantial pot.  At least it helped to pay for Nick’s very generous offer to buy a drink for everyone who played.

Thursday, Dec. 15, Khao Kheow – Stableford

Yellow Tees

1st Russell Gilroy (17) 35pts

2nd Nick Caulfield (5) 34pts

3rd Anthony Dillon (16) 34pts

4th Michael Williams (15) 34pts

White Tees

1st John Fenwick (20) 41pts

2nd John Kelly (26) 36pts

3rd Don Everett (20) 33pts

Another beautiful day for golf here at Khao Kheow with a lovely breeze to keep the temperature down.  Today we played the C and A courses and we gave a choice of tees, the longer yellows or the shorter whites.

We had a slightly larger number of players who decided they wanted the challenge of the longer tees but as this a difficult course none of them managed to play to their handicaps, with Russell Gilroy making the best effort and he won with thirty five points.  We then had three players with thirty four points, Nick Caulfield winning the count back to come second, Anthony Dillon third and Michael Williams fourth.

Off the white tees John Fenwick had his best score for a long time and was an easy winner with an excellent forty one points.  John Kelly had the only ‘2’ of the day and also took the second spot with thirty six points and Don Everett took third with thirty three.
