AMA events and Singha Corporation have announced that the inaugural Singha Trail Running Festival, scheduled for September 20, will be held in the stunning Singha Park located in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. The event will be a true ‘catchall’ race, including a comprehensive array of distances – 3km, 10km and 21km half marathon – all tailored for families, running enthusiasts and those who may be new to friendly, competitive trail running.
This new event is set to become one of the most scenic trail run events in South East Asia. The Singha Park Chiang Rai is something of a hidden gem for trail runners and cyclists, immersing runners in beautiful bamboo forests, exotic terraced rice paddies, pristine tea plantations and breathtaking lake views.
Trail runners will be heading north on Sept. 20 for the inaugural Singha Trail Running Festival in Chiang Rai.
Participants have the opportunity of running the full 21km course, consisting of: a mix of scenic single tracks and dirt roads; or the shorter 10km course which skips some of the longer off-road sections. The Family Fun Run (3km) is also very much part of this convivial event and is open to all, free of charge.
The race is scheduled to commence at 2:30 p.m., leaving time for everyone to prepare for the Singha hosted barbecue party and awards ceremony on Saturday evening for all participants, with 2 complimentary bottles of Singha beer included.
“We are very excited in bringing the sport of trail running to northern Thailand,” says Serge Henkens, the race director. “Trail running is booming in popularity in Thailand and athletes are seeking new, well-organized events all around the country. The Singha Park has all the ingredients for great trail running including beautiful single tracks, spectacular sceneries, exotic terrace paddy fields, bamboo forests, tea plantations and last but not least, the legendary Lanna hospitality.”
