The Thailand Transplantees Association, which cares for people recovering from organ transplants, was invited to bring some of its members to the Coco Sports Club in Pattaya last weekend to try out the facility’s 8 new full size petanque/boules rinks.
Teamed up with local bowlers, a total of 32 pairs were split evenly in a competition featuring both petanque and lawn bowls, with some of the pairings playing in both sports. Plenty of supporters watched on and there was to be an exciting finish at the end.
After six hours of round-robin play on Saturday the Petanque final was to be between a non-transplantee invited pair and the favourites, with the result going in favour of the former by a score of 10-2.
After the finish the lawn bowls began and a long evening of play Saturday and then Sunday saw the teams whittled down to two pairs for the final. This saw a fancied farang team take on the transplantees and the farangs lost out, leaving Kamlong and Siam to take the spoils.
