17 players traveled to Green Valley for our regular Sunday bash, so only one flight was required with an extra step on the podium.  Peter ‘the right honorable’ LeNoury was the happy recipient of that final podium spot with a sound even par round but sadly only after losing  a count-back to the man on form, Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake.

Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw was bang on song as he took the second spot with a fine37 points, but the man on top of the podium was Barry ‘the booking manager’ Tregurtha with a splendid match winning 41 points and a near pin to boot.

A good turn of 20 players returned to Green Valley on Tuesday.  Just one flight again today but with six places up for grabs.

William Macey was the top player with a blistering 42 points and two clear of pay-window specialists Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw and Eddy ‘the Eagle’ Beilby, with Nick managing to clip the Eagle’s wings in the resulting count-back.  Brian ‘the unbalanced’ Wilkinson was but one shot in arrears for the fourth place on the podium.  Pat ‘the Irish rover’ Reagan took fifth spot with a solid 39 points and Bob Catlow rounded out the flight with a fine even par score.

Friday, Nov. 24,
The Emerald – Stableford

1st Mark Wood (9) 39pts

2nd Tony Oakes (15) 36pts

3rd Martin Zimmerman (16) 35pts

4th Tim Knight (28) 35pts

5th Michael Holland 35pts

Near Pins: No 7 Ian Brimble, No 15 Bob Catlow.

We arrived at the Emerald to find the course pleasantly quite, and we were able to tee off on time without delay, and with no one in front of us.

Scotland’s Mark Wood was the only player to better his handicap on the day, carding an excellent 39 points on what local golfers know to be a very challenging course.  Mark was three clear of the man on fire Tony ‘the glove’ Oakes.

Three players were knotted on 35 points for the minor flight places; Martin Zimmerman, Aussie starlet Tim Knight and Michael Holland, and when the knot was undone it was Martin who was the happiest.
