U-Tapao Airport ready to host Air Race 1 World Cup

Top officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Sports and Tourism held a meeting last week to discuss preparations for the Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017.

Key participants at the meeting, held at the Royal Thai Navy’s Sattahip base, included Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Thanasak Patimapakorn, Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports Pongpanu Svetarundra, and Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Governor Sakon Wannapong.  The Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017 is expected to attract more than 150,000 visitors.

Gen. Thanasak said that U-Tapao Internaltional Airport is an ideal venue for the event and can accommodate a large number of racers and spectators.  It will demonstrate Thailand’s readiness to host world-class sporting events and help stimulate the economy and tourism.

The Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017 is scheduled to take place from November 17 to 19.  The event will be broadcast live on television.  Tickets are available at 100, 300 and 500 baht for daily visitors while a 3-day pass costs 1000 baht.  For more information, visit www.airrace1thailand.com.
