Phoenix Members Golf Society
It was another beautiful day on the fairways of Phoenix, Tuesday, March 5, with a little cloud cover to start and a nice breeze blowing from the east so temperatures were comfortable. So much in fact so that I managed to walk nine holes before my legs gave way to old age fatigue. I think they say “good exercise”. It is if you’re fit!
There were some really good scores today with all four places making par or better. In first place Ulf Berggren who shot the lights out with a fine 41 points (gross 79) to claim the Ann’s Salon voucher. In second place was Joe Miller with 39 points (gross 81), to bid us farewell for a few months whilst he goes back to the USA to see a few family and friends. Third was Richard Baldwin with 37 points and fourth was myself with 36. This was after having a couple of months forgetting how to hit a golf ball and my handicap going up to 14. Hopefully back to better golf!
Tuesday’s winners pose with staff at The Relax Bar.
Near pins went to Gary Blackburne, Peter Harris, Jim Neilson & Bob Neylon.
Murphy’s law prevailed in the lucky draw: Sergio Poggi had gone across the road to a massage parlour because the Relax Bar did not have a masseuse available and his name was drawn out for the free massage at the Relax Bar. Other lucky draw winners were Adriano Reale & Eamon Murtagh.
Onto Friday, March 8, and scoring today was a little lower than Tuesday but it was myself with 35 points (blobbing the last hole) to hang on for victory today. In second place was Bengt Hellstrom with 34 points, third was Mukesh Thakker with 34, losing on count back to Bengt, and fourth was Mark Jenning with 31 points.
Near pins went to Bengt Hellstrom (2), Thiery Petriment & Richard Baldwin.
Lucky draw, as always donated by the Relax Bar, went to Ulf Berggren, Pierre Bietry & Andre Fortis.
Although we are predominantly a Phoenix members group we do welcome visitors as our guests and they can enjoy a special green fee of 1.000 baht until the end of March. After that the Tuesday & Thursday of each week will be a Sports Day and guests will be charged 800 baht green fee. Friday will be 1,000 baht green fee.
