Pattaya United were eliminated in the first round of the RHB Singapore Cup last week after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Myanmar league team Okkthar United on Wednesday, June 15 at Singapore’s Beza Stadium.
The friendly international tournament marked a break from Pattaya’s current Premier League campaign and they were able to field a fairly strong team, but without the injured Ludovick Takham, plus Anuwat In-Yin, Hiroyuki Yamamoto and Gabriel Obatola who were being rested and did not travel with the rest of the squad.

The Dolphins fell behind as early as the 6th minute when Aung Moe broke clear to slip the ball past the Pattaya keeper and give Okkthar a one goal lead. Pattaya dominated most of the possession in the first 45 minutes but they were susceptible to the counter attack and they got caught out again on 36 minutes as Roger Lap doubled the lead for the Myanmar team and sent them into the break two goals up.
The Dolphins made a couple of changes in the second half, bringing on Suthisa in place of Sihawong and giving Adisak Haanthet from the under 19 squad a run out in the first team. The substitutions seemed to give a bit more pep to United’s attacking play but they were unable to break down the stubborn resistance of the Okkthar defence until the final minute of the match when Somchai Singhmanee pulled a goal back to add some respectability to the scoreline.
The next game for Pattaya United will be an away fixture in the Thai Premier League against Bangkok Glass on Saturday, July 2.
