Monday, Dec. 24, Khao Kheow – Stableford

It was the B and C courses yet again here and an unusual cut today in the two divisions of 5-15 and 17+. There were two 36-pointers in the top flight and Martin Grimoldby, who scored 20 points on the front nine, just lost out to Bob Poole on a 19/16 countback. Ian Speirs came in third on 35 and Brian Keating beat Ron Miller on a 19/16 back-nine countback for fourth after they both came in with 32 points.

In division 2 there were three 36’s fighting for pole position and a countback of 20/16/14 put Paul Butler in first, Harry Vincenzi second and Andres Vande Laan third. John Carlin was fourth with 34 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Bob Poole, Dennis Scougall (x2) and Ian Speirs, and (Div 2) Paul Butler (x2).

Martin Grimoldby birdied B8 for the only ‘2’ of the day.

Wednesday, Dec. 26, Chee Chan – Stableford

This was our last game here before the high season prices kick in. Thirty-nine points was the highest score of the day, coming from Andres Van de Laan to win division 2. Ten points behind in second place was Louis Wong, beating Rudi Schaefer on a 19/14 countback.

Harry Vincenzi topped division 1 with 38 points, Pete Sumner took second with 33 and Simon Kendall was third with 30.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Simon Kendall, Ian Speirs and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Rudi Schaefer (2), Harry Vincenzi and Louis Wong.

No ‘2’s in either division today.

Friday, Dec. 28, Eastern Star – Stableford

We had seven groups out today with the cut at 9-18 and 19+ and 36 points was the highest score of the day, coming from Ron Lavette to win division 2. John Carlin was second on 34 points and in third place Leo Adam beat Max Wilson on a 19/14 countback after they both came in with 30 points. In fifth was John Seton with 29.

There were three 33’s in division 1 and a 21/19/16 countback saw Jerry McCarthy take first ahead of Ian Speirs in second and Dennis Scougall third. Frank Kelly placed fourth on 32 and Dave Edwards finished fifth after beating Paul Butler and Harry Vincenzi on a 18/17/15 countback, all on 31points.

Near pins went (Div 1) Dave Edwards (x2) and Chris Slota (x2), and (Div 2) Frank Kelly and Harry Vincenzi.

Dave Edwards birdied the 17th and Chris Slota the 3rd for the only ‘2’s of the day.
