Monday, Feb. 29, Crystal Bay – Stableford

There were ten groups out today and we were allocated the B and A nines in that order, with the cut in the three divisions set at 4-14, 15-21 and 22+.  The course was in good condition but many people could not see the supposed improvements to the B nine, which has just recently reopened.

The best score of the day was 40 points from Cliff Elliott that gave him the win in division 3.  Jeff Greer came in second on 38 and Bert Jumelet was third with 33.

Harry Vincenzi.

Harry Vincenzi’s 39 points topped the division 2 scores, with Barry Stirling in second place after beating Bruce Gardner on count back, both 32 points overall.

An 18/16 count back victory put Chris Voller on the top in division 1 as he edged out Terry Madsen, both on 35 points.  In third place was Brian Keating with 34 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Brian Keating (3) and Teddy Lodge, and (Div 2) Bruce Gardner and Harry Vincenzi (2).

Per Forsberg birdied B4 and Jerry McCarthy A5 to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 and in division 2 Bruce Gardner on B6 and Harry Vincenzi on A5 shared the spoils.

Wednesday, March 2, Parachit – Stableford

After a 39 on Monday, Harry Vincenzi, despite a small cut in his handicap, scored 39 again to win division 1 at Parichat.  Jerry Sweetnam came in second place on 34 and Ron Miller was third after beating Curtis Hessler on count back, both finishing on 31 points.

Jim Connelly topped the podium in division 2, three ahead of Magne Gunnarson in second while Chris Reed placed third on 28.

We normally play the back white tees rather than the forward ones but last time we played here there were some moans as there are many long carries over the water.  Today there was only one white tee so we played off this one.

Ron Miller.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Jerry McCarthy (2) and Ron Miller (2), and (Div 2) Alan Duckett and Harry Vincenzi (2).

Jim Connelly birdied the 14th for the only ‘2’ of the day.

Friday, March 4, Eastern Star – Stableford

A very hot day here but with a lovely breeze coming off the coast and there were 11 groups out with a cut of 6-15, 16-21 and 22+ in the three divisions.

Mikael Andersson recorded the best score of the day, winning division 1 with 39 points.  Chris Voller was second on 35 and Arthur Hancock took third with 34.

John Kelly with 36 points won division 3, five ahead of Charles Henk in second and Joe Kubon took third place on a count back over Roar Berger and Bert Jumelet, all coming in with 29 points each.

There were not too many high scores today as the greens were the slickest we have played on for some time.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Gerald Dooley, Jerry McCarthy, Ron Miller and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Andy Galvin (2) and Magne Gunnarson.

Chris Voller birdied the 6th to claim the ‘2’s pot in the top flight and Andy Galvin and Charles Henk both birdied the 13th to share the division 2 pot.
