2nd Robbie James (13) 37pts

3rd Billy Allan (19) 35pts

On Monday the TRGG set off to do battle at Pleasant Valley and Norman Cheetham was pleasantly surprised with his return of 40pts on the day, which was good enough to take him to the top of the leaderboard and walk off with all the prize money yet again.  Our Norman has had a good year so far and there are still four weeks to go for our wily old Aussie.

In second place with another fine score around a tricky course came Robbie James with his 37pts.  Taking third place was our own Billy Allan who managed to keep his ball on the fairway, which is more than he could do later in the week.  More of that later.

Tuesday, Nov. 29, Pattavia – Stableford

1st Mike Simpson (33) 37pts

2nd Alastair Anderson (14) 36pts

3rd Ken Brehm (20) 35pts

It was a welcome return to Pattavia Century for the TRGG clientele On Tuesday.  This is the course with the lightning greens but judging by the winning scores I should hazard a guess that at least the top three players found them reasonable.  Mind you, the eventual winner did have an awful lot of shots to play with and was able to play double bogey golf most of the way round.

Mike Simpson was that man and he was able to pick his way round and avoid most of the trouble and come home with 37pts to take first prize.  Alastair Anderson also had a good day, playing to his handicap which meant he had to pay par golf for the best part of his round.  My old adversary Ken Brehm, who I am looking forward to meeting again soon to resume our next keenly fought contest, took third on the day.

Wednesday, Nov. 30, Parichat – Stableford

1st Greg Ward (14) 37pts

2nd Roger Wilkinson (14) 33pts

3rd Ally Walker (13) 31pts

It was another quick return to play Parichat on Wednesday.  Now some people believe that golf is an expensive game to play, a sentiment with which I have to agree, especially when you play Parichat.  The golf ball manufacturers love this course and I defy any golfer in the world to finish the eighteenth hole and to still be playing with the same golf ball they drove off with on the first.  But I guess we must all be masochists to return to play the course time and time again.

At half way round Billy Allan had managed to lose nine golf balls and was asking his playing partners if he could borrow some of theirs.  They all laughed, they had none left either.

Anyway back to the competition. Greg Ward had a good day and returned a quite remarkable 37pts.  He is obviously in league with the Devil.  Someway behind came Roger Wilkinson, one of my playing partners, who started the round terribly but finished with a back nine of 20pts which helped considerably.

Ally Walker came home in third place with just 31pts, a good effort at Parichat.

Thursday, Dec. 1, Green Valley – Stableford

1st Jim Cooper (15) 38pts

2nd Derek Thorogood (15) 33pts

3rd Ted Senior (18) 33pts

On Thursday we began the new month with our weekly visit to Green Valley.  Jim Cooper, who has been hiding his golfing talents well below the surface for most of this year returned with a vengeance and decimated the opposition.  His 38pts on the day was far too good for the rest.

It was déjà vu for second placed Derek Thorogood who seems to like that podium position.  Ted Senior is another who has been hiding his light under a bushel of late and returned to the leader board in third place.

Friday, Dec. 2,
Khao Kheow – Stableford

1st Alan Thomas (6) 38pts

2nd Greg Ward (13) 36pts

3rd Ian Bell (6) 35pts

The golfing week drew to a close at Khao Kheow (A & C courses) on Friday.

Alan Thomas is the steadiest golfer I know.  In fact I think he should have been christened Eddie Thomas.  He just never seems to put a foot wrong and is a joy to watch playing.  He did the business again at Khao Kheow and his 38pts took him to the No. 1 slot yet again.  Greg Ward had to settle for second place while Scotsman Ian Bell, who hits a mean ball, took third place.
