Travellers Rest Golf Group

No golf on Monday last week as it was another Thai holiday which always means the price to play golf goes up and the courses tend to get overcrowded, so the TRGG took the day off.

It was as you were for the rest of the week and there was no doubt who deserved to be crowned “Golfer of the Week” when he took first place on two of the remaining three days golf.  Roger Wilkinson was that man and he kept his golf game together and held his nerve to stay ahead of the rest in some very tight finishes.

Tuesday, April 8, Green Valley – Stableford

On Tuesday the TRGG headed over to Green Valley and had a second chance to play the new layout.  Starting on the hardest hole on the course can be a little daunting for some but there were some very old hands in the field and they have seen it all before and to them it is not a problem.

Amazingly the three leaders all finished on 37 pts and it was the old sea dog Roger Wilkinson who finished in the crowsnest.  Ted Senior took time off looking after Ted Junior (his daughter Jenny) and snatched second place whilst Rod Ewan has still had no ill effects from a severe lashing from the Handicap committee and finished in third.

1st Roger Wilkinson (14) 37pts

2nd Ted Senior (15) 37pts

3rd Rod Ewan (11) 37pts

Thursday, April 10, Greenwood – Stableford

Thursday it was off to Greenwood (C and B courses) and Roger Wilkinson did it again.  This time he didn’t need the help of a count back and finished in the lead by one whole point from fellow Aussie Derek Thorogood.  Rod Ewan again took third place still playing some very consistent golf.

1st Roger Wilkinson (14) 38pts

2nd Derek Thorogood (16) 37pts

3rd Rod Ewan (11) 35pts

Saturday, April 12, Eastern Star – Stableford

On Saturday Eastern Star was the venue and Fergus Brennan took over the number one slot for the second time in consecutive weeks and shook off his days in the doldrums.  It did however take another count back to decide the winner and Fergus just defeated Gerry Fernandez.  Rod Ewan again took third place for the third time this week.

1st Fergus Brennan (12) 39pts

2nd Gerry Fernandez (13) 39pts

3rd Rod Ewan (11) 36pts

Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week and if you would like to play a round of golf with the TRGG please phone Fergus Brennan on 086 056 7019 or pop into the Ned Kelly Bar in Soi Lengkee and add your name to the weekly lists which are posted on the notice board.
