PSC golf from The Golf Club

Monday, Feb. 26, Green Valley (White tees) – Stableford,.

A Flight

1st Brian Wilkinson (13) 45pts

2nd Jim Dundon (15) 37pts

3rd Peter LeNoury (10) 36pts

B Flight

1st Warren Holland (22) 34pts

2nd Henry O’Brien (19) 33pts

3rd Mick Beresford (21) 32pts

You don’t know how difficult it is to sing the praises of Brian Wilkinson, but ya gotta hand it to the guy for this terrific performance on this day at RGV.  It was one of those days when everything went right and he could do no wrong, obviously.  As he guided me through his round shot by shot , he regaled of tales of those four 30 foot putts that dropped and that drive on the 14th that bounced off the mountain on the right and onto the middle of the fairway.  Well, you have to have a bit of luck to shoot a 45!  The resident Blackpool supporter won it fair and square though, well played mate.

Jimmy Dundon had another great round and has worked off all the cobwebs from months of golf hibernation to shoot a superb 37.  Watch out for Dundon in the coming weeks.  Longtime pal Peter LeNoury came in with 36 points on the card to round out the A Flight podium.

Warren Holland led the way for the B Flight players with a steady 34 that had Henry O’Brien on his heels with 33 followed by Micky Beresford with a respectable 32 points for the 21 handicapper.

The other interesting thing is that we had 6 sets of rental clubs go out on the day which can only mean the airlines are charging too much for baggage these days.  We have seen more guys come out to play that are leaving their clubs back home, and we do have a fine assortment of quality golf club rental sets.  Remember, we have golf lockers to store your clubs on an annual or monthly basis.

Wednesday, Feb. 22, Plutaluang (White tees) – Stableford

A Flight

1st Ken Aihara (6) 36pts

2nd Jim Dundon (15) 35pts

3rd Mark Bonner (15) 33pts

B Flight

1st Jim Bell (17) 33pts

2nd Brendon Bird (16) 31pts

3rd Jerry Garcia (21) 31pts

We were lucky enough to be assigned the West/North loops for today’s comp and they proved to be a great day of golf for us.  For a mere 920 baht for green fee and caddy fee, this course is one of the best high-season deals in town.  The “Lighthouse hole” par 3 is one of the prettiest shots in Thailand and the undulations and elevations make for many picturesque golf holes at this course.  Condition of the course was very good and playable and to be recommended to visitor or resident.

We had 3 vans full of our golfers head out to the Navy course and squeezed in 40 golfers in our 9 tee times thanks to some quick starts off the first.  We haven’t played here in ages but will be back soon as we all enjoyed the day out.

In the A Flight, Ken Aihara continued his strong play with another consistent round.  Today, just shooting his handicap was good enough to take top position, followed by Jimmy Dundon (again!) and Englishman Mark Bonner, probably the fittest golfer in town.  Well played lads.

The B Flight was led by Jim Bell on 33 points with Brendon Bird beating that suntanned Hawaiian Jerry Garcia on count back with 33 points on the day.

Friday, Feb. 24, Crystal Bay (White tees) – Stableford

1st Paul Hack (24) 42pts

2nd Brett Chan (20) 39pts

3rd Jason Schendry (23) 38pts

4th Jason Mcdonald (21) 37pts

It was the day for the higher handicappers to claim the entire podium!  Shooting a very high 42 points, Paul Hack (even he admits it to be an unfortunate name for a golfer!) was no hacker on the day for his well won victory.  Brett and the two Jasons chased behind but were not even close with scores that would have won on another day out.

Our mate from Champagne-a-Go Go, Jason McDonald is one of the longest hitters in town, and if he could get some touch around the greens he would be a great golfer.  It will come mate, it will come!  Champagne Jay just needs to spend a little time with Richard for a cure.

Note:  The Golf Club is located on Soi LK Metro.  We play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so come join us for a fun day out.  Just call 085 434 3377 or see our website www.golfclubpattaya.com and for more information mail us: [email protected] and see updates at www.facebook.com/golfclubpattaya.
