PSC Golf from The Golf Club
Monday, Jan. 11, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford
1st Peter Wilson (7) 41pts
T2nd Ken Aihara (6) 35pts
T2nd Huw Philips (12) 35pts
4th Chris Bailey (14) 34pts
Chris Bailey has been here almost a month and for his last round in Pattaya, Chris finally earned his first podium place! Good timing mate, shame you can’t stay a bit longer now that you’re warmed up. Up the leader board we saw the familiar name of Kenny Aihara again, but this time it was Peter Wilson who snagged a first place. Nice 41 there Pete!
Wednesday, Jan. 13, Treasure Hill (yellow tees) – Stableford
T1st Alan Rothwell (5) 34pts
T1st Andy Makara (23) 34pts
3rd Mark Wood (9) 33pts
4th Kenny Aihara (6) 32pts
Treasure Hill is one of those courses you either love or hate. It is a tough and tight layout and you never see good scores here, but it is a little gem of a track that is a great test of golf. We got lucky here today as our final group that teed off at 9:45 was followed by the greenskeepers sanding all the greens! For us, the course was in great shape and really lovely condition. For later groups, maybe not so much!
Kenny Aihara, Alan Rothwell and Mark Wood après golf at The Golf Club.
Anyway, there was Kenny on that podium again! I am sure he did not expect a 32 to get him anything, but here at Treasure Hill that’s a decent score. Our old pal Mark Wood did one better with a 33 and one better again were Alan Rothwell and Andy Makara who tied for the win on 34 points. You just never know.
Friday, Jan. 15, Mt. Shadow (blue tees) – Stableford
1st Kenny Aihara (6) 40pts
2nd Kevin Hamilton (15) 35pts
3rd Brent Philp (18) 34pts
It was time to take the journey down Sukhumvit to the wonders of a golf day at Mountain Shadow. The course was a wee bit wet in patches but otherwise in good nick. The greens were in great shape and rolling very true and it was a real challenge from the blue tees today. It was another day of hot summer weather and that seemed to be the only universal complaint here.
Our buddy Brent Philp is just in from Vancouver for the Mulberry Ryder Cup next month so what better way to get ready than a podium finish here today. Kev Hamilton usually saves his good shots for Green Valley, but today his 35 got him second place.
Last Friday Kenny shot a 40 for the win at Silky Oaks and this Friday he netted the same score here at Mountain Shadow. It is good to see him back in form and now that he has sorted out his 3-wood debacle it should mean more appearances up on the podium.
