PSC Golf from Lewiinski’s Golf Society
Sunday, May 8, Green Valley – Stableford
1st Ed Wyckoff (11) net 72
2nd Jim Brackett (7) net 72
3rd Robert Baird (27) net 73
4th Peter LeNoury (12) net 73
Once again the mad hot humid weather conditions proved to be a little harder than most of the players would have wished for, although the condition of the course could not be faulted with the greens approaching their top condition. All this and it being the low season meant for a smaller Sunday field to contest the monthly medal, which required just one flight
Sunday’s winner Ed Wyckoff (left) with Jim Brackett (centre) and Peter LeNoury.
Ed ‘our man in the Whitehouse’ Wyckoff and ‘Big’ Jim Brackett both had even-par returns but after the divots had settled it was Ed who got to carry off the monthly medal and a bottle of Jameson’s Irish whiskey. Ed also qualifies for the gold medal to be held later in the year and his name will be etched on the Lewiinski’s hall of shame.
Three players went to a count back to sort out the two remaining podium spots; Robert Baird Peter LeNoury and Co Offaly gang man Matt Doyle, and the count back dictated that Robert received the third place and Peter the fourth, while Matt was left you know where and potless.
Monday, May 9, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
1st Tom Gorey (18) 34pts
2nd Chris Martin (14) 31pts
3rd James Ellis (18) 30pts
The always difficult Ronald Freeman designed Mountain Shadow again proved to be hard to score well on in mad hot conditions. The course to be fair was in fine shape with tight fairways and very slick greens.
Ireland’s Tom ‘the Irish rover’ Gorey handled the conditions best as he was man of the match with 34 points. Tom’s Irish mate, Co. Offaly gang man Matt Doyle nicked the silver three shots in arrears. As the man riding a purple patch, Robert Baird rounded out the flight with 30 points.
Thursday, May 12, St. Andrews – Stableford
1st Peter Henshaw (23 39pts
2nd Chris Martin (14) 37pts
3rd James Ellis (18) 36pts
Following the disappointing scores on Monday a fair sized gang bounced right back to form to master the very tough but well maintained St. Andrews.
Top man on the day was Ireland’s very own Peter ‘the silver server’ Henshaw who posted an excellent 39 points. Peter was two strokes clear of Chris Martin as James Ellis closed the flight with a fine even par round.
Friday, May 13, Burapha C & D – Stableford
1st Ian Jones (24) 41pts
2nd Phil Davies (12) 39pts
3rd Peter Henshaw (23) 35pts
Every player has a purple day when things go right and the challenging game of golf suddenly seems easier. Usually the next outing disproves that, but one is still left with the motivation that having such a good round the ability is there to move forward.
Ian Jones had one of those days on Friday, shooting an excellent 41 points for the top spot on the podium and the man of the match honours at the tough Burapha C & D layouts. Ian’s score was nearly caught by Phil ‘the Welsh wonder’ Davies as he posted a fine 39 points. Phil was four strokes clear of the man on form Peter Henshaw.
