Before starting on the golf review we have some very sad news to report. Mike Winfield has lost his battle against his recent illness and passed away. Mike was a Café Kronberg golfer that turned out for us on the odd occasion. He leaves behind his loving wife Ann and family. R.I.P. Mike.
With a 10 am tee time on Monday at Pattavia all the golfers arrived well in advance and we headed off with 15 starters in the bus. As per usual the course was in great condition but the greens were still frighteningly fast to putt on.
We played ‘lift clean and place’ as there was some water lying in certain places on the fairway. Apart from being damp in a few spots, the fairways were good and the weather was sensational – not too hot and no signs of rain.
After a bad run of injuries including being knocked over by a “rampaging elephant”, Steve Younger returned to the winners’ circle today and climbed to the top of the podium with 38 points. Second was Keith Buchanan, finishing just one shot behind while we had a tie for third place between two golfers who could not be separated, Peter Bye & Alex Field.

Twenty-three saddled up to take on possibly the best course we play, Burapah. At Bt.750 green fee maybe this golf course is waking up to the fact that if you reduce the price you may very well increase the numbers.
With today’s numbers we had 2 flights with three places in each and all novelties to be in play. A Flight saw late entrant Rudy Regenass take the honours with the best score for the day, 37 points. Coming in second we actually had to go to the count-back as two players ended up with 36 points overall, with Peter Mac (on his last outing with us) getting the nod with a stronger back-nine than Steve Younger.
B Flight saw Shane (the Jock) Young take first place with 35 points, two clear of his closest rival Andrew (Turtle) Allen. Third place on the podium, with again having his last hit with us this trip, was ‘The Rock’ himself, Rocky Lawson.
