Good health and good works are the focus of two walk-runs scheduled for this month by the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center and the Pattaya Running Club.
Up to 1,000 people are expected to step up for the YWCA.’s “Charity Walk-Run for Women and Children” June 15 on Beach Road from Soi 6 to Walking Street. Proceeds from the event will replenish the association’s charity coffers.
On May 24, the Pattaya Running Club, Walk-Run for Thai Health Foundation and Buddhism Promotion Center of Thailand will host a local walk-run for Visakha Bucha Day to mirror a larger event in Bangkok. This one begins in front of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya office on Pratamnak Hill.
YWCA Chairwoman Praichit Jetpai said the competition will be split into categories for women, men and co-ed teams, with at least one woman per team. Entrance is 350 baht per person. Winners in each bracket will receive a HRH Princess Soamsawalee trophy.

The Pattaya Running Club’s event kicks off at 4 p.m. and will offer a 3km. walk and 5km. run. Participants will be categorized into three groups: Men over 40, Men under 40, and women. The first 10 to cross the finish line will receive trophies and all participants are invited to attend the Visakha Bucha procession ceremony at Khao Pra Yai Temple.
