The eagerly awaited government program to distribute a 10,000-baht stipend via the digital wallet system is aimed at boosting public purchasing power, said Phumtham.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Phumtham Wechayachai, stated that it is currently unclear whether the funding for the digital wallet program will be issued under a regular decree or an emergency decree.

He emphasized that the goal of the digital wallet program is to increase the purchasing power of the citizens, while reiterating that a crucial aspect of the stipend is to ensure it is as accessible as possible to distribute purchasing power more effectively.

He expressed that once there is clarity on the various opinions about the program, relevant agencies will consider making adjustments, taking into account all criticisms and objections for collective consideration. Nevertheless, he confirmed that the government is determined to implement the earmarked 500-billion-baht program.

Phumtham further stated that any policy proposed by his Pheu Thai Party, if mentioned during the campaign, means it has already undergone a thought process regarding its pros and cons. (NNT)
