MAKKAH, 28 July 2019 – Mrs. Noh Lanai, a pilgrim from Thepha District, Songkla, aged 102, is the oldest pilgrim at the 2019 Hajj. She has travelled with her son from Medina to Makkah. However, as the Hajj approaches, she has been advised to use a wheelchair to conserve her energy for the ceremonies.

Mrs. Noh Lanai told the PRD Thai Hajj News Center that she had intended to make the Hajj pilgrimage for several years, but always missed the opportunity. Today, she has the chance to complete a Muslim duty by performing the Hajj ceremony in the holy land of Islam. In preparation for the Hajj, not only did she attend a Hajj panel discussion, she also trained her body by exercising every day. Now, her mind and body are ready for the pilgrimage. She also wishes for those, who have not yet had the chance to go on the Hajj pilgrimage, to keep praying so that one day they can fulfill their wish to be here.

While the News Center was interviewing Mrs. Lanai, a Pakistani husband and wife were watching closely. As they learned of her age and tenacity, they expressed their admiration to her. They held her hands and gently placed them on their faces as a way to receive a blessing from the elderly. Lastly, they asked to take a picture with Mrs. Lanai.
