Security officials from a rapid movement patrol team of the Burapha Task Force arrested 13 illegal Cambodian migrants who were heading for jobs in inner country.
Five Cambodian men and women were spotted in Ban NongPhai village of Ta Phraya sub-district in Ta Phraya district at 2am. They said they sneaked into Thai soil through a natural border crossing and already paid 3,000 baht each to a human trafficker who promised to arrange for their transport to an inner country destination.
At 5am officials stopped a grey Toyota Fortuner vehicle registered in Bangkok, in Ban Kaeo Pet Ploy village of Ta Phraya sub-district. Three Cambodian men and five female compatriots were on the vehicle.
Its driver Pachararote Wachirapanjinda, 48, said he would send the Cambodians to many provinces including Nonthaburi, Nakhon Nayok and Bangkok.
Officials sent all the arrested people to the Ta Phraya police station for prosecution. (TNA)
