BANGKOK, 16 October 2013 – The 18th Book Expo Thailand 2013 begins today at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Kittiratt Na-Ranong presiding over the opening ceremony.
The 18th Book Expo is held under the theme ‘Books change lives; change the world’ as books will grant readers knowledge, creativity, and deliberation. Therefore, books are tools for developing human and the society.
This event includes almost 1,000 booths from 425 publishers. One highlight in this year’s event is an exhibition entitled ‘40 years 14 October: A beautiful hope’ that exhibits rare books and notions of writers on how books can change the society. It is also a reminder of a tragic uprising for democracy on 14 October, 1973.
The Book Expo is a major public event for books, publications, and learning media. It has been held annually since 1996 by the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT). This year’s event is taking place until 27 October 2013.
