PICHIT, 10 September 2015 – Pichit farmers have been struggling to make a living as more than 30,000 rais of farmlands have gone without water for some time now.
More farmers have been forced to encroach on the area surrounding See Fai Lake as it is the only source of water they can use to grow their crops, even though the water level in the 5,300 rai lake has not increased due to the lack of rain.
The impact on the entire eco system of the lake has been significant. The provincial authority is asking farmers and residents to use water wisely.
Around 2,000 farmers in Dong Charoen, Thap Klor, Wang Sai Poon, Bang Moon Nak, Pho Thap Chang and Sam Ngam districts have been affected by water shortages.
