RANONG, 1 May 2015 – The Celebration of Labour Day in Ranong Province was filled with more fun this year than ever as employers gave good cooperation to provincial authorities and participated in the celebration.

Chief Labour Officer of Ranong said that this year the celebration came under the theme “International Labour Day” which well reflected the signature of labour situation in the province. Rayong’s large fishing industry has attracted a lot of migrant workers from neighboring countries especially those from Myanmar.

The celebration started at 8 a.m. in the morning with grand parades and floats sent by local entrepreneurs. Workers, both Thai and Myanmar, in national costume outfits as well as fancy dress, waved national flags of ASEAN states.

Participants also enjoyed a variety of activities in the celebration including football competition and Thai traditional games. Government units set up exhibition booths to publicize their projects to promote labour welfare and job opportunities in Ranong and nearby provinces.

The Chief Labour Officer of Ranong on this occasion requested all employers to hire only legal labor force and make sure that no child labour under 15 is hired in inland jobs and nobody under 18 hired on offshore jobs.
