BANGKOK, 8 December 2013 The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered 27 schools, located near protest areas, to be shut on Monday.
The closure came after the anti-government group announced that it will form nine rally groups across Bangkok and march to the Government House tomorrow. The BMA deemed the protests will affect the commuting of teachers and students.
Eleven schools in Phra Nakhon District; including Wat Rajabopit School, Wat Tritosathep School, Wat Phra Chetuphon School, Wat Makutkasattriyaram School, Wat Mahanaparam School, Wat Mahatat School, Wat Ratchanadda School, Wat Suthat School, Wat Ratburana School, Wat Maiamatarod School, and Wat Intharawihan School, will be shut on Monday.
Nine schools in Dusit Districts that will be closed include Wat Benchamabophit School, Wat Chan Samosorn School, Wat Devaraj Kunchorn School, Wat Thammapirataram School, Wat Pracha Rabue Tham School, Wat Sawaswaree Srimaram School, Wat Rajphatikaram School, Wat Samananam Borihan School, and Sukhothai School.
Four schools to be shut in Pom Prap Sattru Phai Districts include Wat Kanikaphon School, Wat Disanukaram School, Wat Phra Phiren School, and Wat Sitaram School.
And three schools in Lak Si to be shut include Tung Song Hong School, Bang Khen School, and Wat Lak Si School. Should the protest area expand, more schools may have to be shut as well.
