NARATHIWAT, May 31 -Schools in this restive southern province made the decision to close today following the latest insurgent attack on a teacher.
Twenty-eight schools in Wang district announced their one-day closure as school administrators met to discuss with district chief Preecha Nuannoi on tighter security measures for teachers while they travel to and from school and home.
The meeting came in a wake of the shooting attack on Banwaeng School director Awirut Yaseng yesterday evening as he drove his car home.
Mr Awirut was wounded and is now receiving medical treatment in Sungai Kolok Hospital.
All 28 schools are scheduled to reopen Monday.
