BANGKOK, 3 October 2013 Around 300 zoo employees on Wednesday rallied at Dusit Zoo in Bangkok demanding the removal of the zoo authority’s chief.

The employees from zoos in Ubonratchathani, Khonkaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai, Chonburi, Songkhla and Bangkok were demanding that the Zoological Parks Organization of Thailand (ZPO) board remove ZPO director Sanchai Chunlakomon from his position.

The demonstrators said the current ZPO chief lacked the know-how in business management and neglected the aspect of personnel development. They also said Mr. Sanchai lacked the vision that would allow Thailand’s zoos to become the standard-setter among zoos in ASEAN.
