36 provinces still affected by drought crisis

BANGKOK, 2 June 2015 -The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has revealed that 36 provinces have been affected by the drought crisis.

According to the DDPM Director-General, Chatchai Promlert, more than 12,000 villages, 16% of villages across Thailand, and 254 districts have been facing water shortages.

Mr. Chatchai added that the drought situation in Chonburi and Satul provinces has now improved. However, provincial authorities continue to deliver water to those in dire need of it for household consumption and farming activities.
