‘39th ASEAN-Japan Forum’ in Bangkok, study visit to Ayutthaya

The Forum discussed ways to advance the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all three pillars of cooperation and had an extensive exchange of views on regional and international issues.

H.E. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations, co-chaired the 39th ASEAN-Japan Forum in Bangkok with H.E. Mr. Funakoshi Takehiro, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on 25 June 2024.



The Forum discussed ways to advance the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all three pillars of cooperation and had an extensive exchange of views on regional and international issues. Thailand highlighted priority areas of cooperation in further strengthening the economic partnership including through accelerating green transition, promoting digital transformation and strengthening physical, digital and social connectivity.

In addition, a study visit to Ayutthaya Province was organised for the participants, traveling on a special refurbished Japanese train to highlight the long-standing ties between ASEAN and Japan, especially in cultural links, people-to-people exchanges and connectivities. (MFA)
