BANGKOK, July 25 — Thai Foreign Ministry ASEAN Affairs Department director-general Arthayuth Srisamoot told the press that his department will hold an event to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the founding of the regional pact August 8.
According to Mr Arthayuth, the event will be attended by ASEAN member state ambassadors to Thailand, honoured guests, teachers and more than 600 students from various institutions.
The event is to raise awareness and understanding of the ASEAN Community (AC) formation set to take place at the end of next year.
The event will also feature a National Championship ASEAN Quiz Contest, an ASEAN Association of Thailand exhibition and a seminar titled, “Going back Through Time to Reach the Future of AC”, where discussions would be led by the former ASEAN secretary-general and distinguished ASEAN academics.
In all, the ASEAN Department, in its capacity as the National ASEAN Secretary, has celebrate the ASEAN anniversary annually, to promote knowledge and preparedness of the AC integration, one of Thailand’s national agenda priorities.
Formation of the ASEAN Community formation has played a large role in supporting and developing learning about ASEAN among Thai youths, which is a vital basic foundation for pushing Thailand successfully into the AC future.
