50 million baht worth of contraband goods torched in Aranyaprathet

Customs director-general Kulis Sombatsiri on Monday presided over the ceremonial destruction of 50 million baht worth of fake brandname products seized by customs officials in Aranyaprathet.

Accompanied by Sakaew governor Pakarathorn Thienchai, Colonel Charoenchai Hinthao, deputy commander of Burapha Task Force and senior customs and local officials, Mr Kulis led the destruction of the counterfeit products by using scissors to cut some of the products.

The bulk of more than 100,000 pieces of fake brandname products which include sport shoes, hand bags, glasses, garments and blankets were later transported to an incinerator in the municipal area to be burned.

The customs chief said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha had instructed customs officials and security units along the Thai-Cambodian border to crack down on the smuggling of fake brandname products from Cambodia.
