52 Thais, foreigners arrested at illegal casino in Bangkok

Pol Maj Gen said police from the 191 Special Operations Unit and the Metropolitan Police Division 2 arrested the people while they were playing baccarat in the high rise building on Ratchadaphisek 18 Road and the MPB was investigating if local police had turned a blind eye on the illegal casino.

Police recently arrested 52 Thai and foreign gamblers at an illegal casino on a basement of a high rise in Huai Khwang district, according to Bangkok’s deputy police chief.

Pol Maj Gen Jirasant Kaewsaeng-ek, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said police from the 191 Special Operations Unit and the Metropolitan Police Division 2 arrested the people while they were playing baccarat in the high rise building on Ratchadaphisek 18 Road and the MPB was investigating if local police had turned a blind eye on the illegal casino.



The 52 gamblers were 34 men and 18 women. They were 14 Thais, 22 Chinese, 14 Myanmar and two Malaysian people. Police also seized 4.36 million baht in cash and 30 items of casino equipment at the place. A 41-year-old man identified only as Ekarin was arrested as a suspected gambling host.



Pol Maj Gen Jirasant said that police raided the place at 2am on June 25 in response to a tip from an informant. (TNA)
