Bangkok – More than 500 illegal foreigners have been arrested in police crackdowns so far this month.

Deputy immigration police chief Maj Gen Itthipol Itthisaronnachai invited press members to Chana Songkhram Police Station on Khaosan Road in Bangkok where he displayed some of the illegal foreigners arrested so far this month.

Many of the arrests were made at hotels, hostels and other lodgings between Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, he said.

The raids were part of an ongoing operation which has taken nearly 7,000 illegal foreign nationals off the streets since 2017. It was led by Immigration Bureau Police Commander Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn.
