BANGKOK – The Department of Land Transport (DLT) has arrested public transport drivers, especially taxi drivers, revoking and suspending over 50 licenses.
DLT Director-General Sanit Phromwong said his department has worked with the military and police in regulating the public transport system. Officials are strictly monitoring for driving behavior that affect the safety of passengers or Thailand’s reputation.
From October 1, 2015, to March 31, 2016, officials have suspended and revoked the licenses of 54 taxi drivers who refused to take passengers, failed to drop passengers off at the agreed location, refused to use the meter fare, expressed rude behavior, or failed to produce their licenses and vehicle registration.
