The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) has announced its readiness to organize the 68th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, reflecting the growth and international recognition of Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry.
GIT CEO Sumed Prasongpongchai said the fair will highlight the Thai industry’s success over the span of 40 years. It will also feature an exhibition showcasing its grandeur, zones dedicated to new exhibitors, seminar activities, and over 1,100 gem and jewelry merchants from around the world, occupying more than 2,400 booths.
Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), meanwhile revealed that the export value of gems and jewelry – excluding unworked gold – exceeded US$4.34 billion in the first half of 2023, growing by 11.94%.
The DITP has set an annual target of no less than a 10% increase in exports due to the economic recovery of Thailand’s trading partners, improved global conditions and increased consumer spending.
This year’s Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from September 6-10. It is expected to attract no fewer than 30,000 visitors from around the world, generating a total trade value of no less than 3 billion baht.
The event underscores Thailand’s prominent position in the global gems and jewelry market, while aiming to further enhance the nation’s reputation as a leading hub in this vibrant industry. (NNT)
