BANGKOK, 31 May 2015 – The Seismology Office under the Meteorological Department has announced that a 7.8 magnitude quake on Bonin Islands of Japan on Saturday has not affected Thailand. No tsunami warning has been issued.
According to the Seismology Office, there have been no reports of serious damage and giant waves caused by the earthquake whose epicenter was very deep at 590 kilometers. However, tremors were felt all over Japan with small injuries and power cuts.
Many trains in Tokyo have halted service for security inspection.
