Chiang Mai police seized more than 80 million baht in cash and property from drug suspects affiliated with alleged narcotics kingpin Kittipan Eksuriyachok.
Office of the Narcotics Control Board officials, police, soldiers from the 33rd Military Circle and local authorities raided 29 locations in the province, taking possession of homes, vehicles, gold and cash they allege gang members were holding on behalf of Kittipan, who was arrested in July.
Among the assets seized were 3.3-million-baht condominium, 12 gold ornaments worth 400,000 baht, five houses valued at 32 million baht, seven plots of land, two cars and 500,000 baht kept in bank accounts.
Officials from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board along with police and soldiers wok together in the fight against drugs.
Pol Lt Gen Thanitsak Theerasawat, the chief of Police Region 5 who led the operation, said the seizure was based on information obtained from Mongkol Rungkarncharoen and Surachai Thanaratsirikuland, who were arrested in July in Lamphun with 43 kilograms of heroin.
Kittipan was caught at a Tesco Lotus store in Chiang Mai’s Muang district July 1. During his arrest, Kittipan claimed to Baebae Laochi. He also had been known by the alias Khaiying Sae Chuey.
