96 gamblers arrested in an old warehouse which was turned into a gambling den

Military personnel arrested 96 gamblers and seized several gambling equipment and cash in a raid of an illegal gambling den in Lat Krabang district, Min Buri province, Friday evening.

Colonel Noppasit Sitthipongsophon, commander of the 1st calvary battalion of the Royal Guards, told reporters that he received tipoff from residents that an old warehouse in Soi Lat Krabang 2/1 had been used as an illegal gambling den, catering to almost 100 gamblers every day.

The warehouse is located on a five-rai plot of land. There are five small rooms in the warehouse which are snooker parlours, vending machines to sell food and drinks for gamblers, two halls for hi-low gambling and another room equipped with six computers for online soccer gambling.

About 200,000 baht in cash were found in the room for online soccer gambling.

Of the 96 gamblers arrested, 37 are women. A handful managed to escape.

Colonel Noppasit said it was not known who operates the gambling den but he added that it would not be difficult to find out.
