BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, accompanied by her spouse Mr. Pitaka Suksawat, led the government officials in promoting the “Vijit Chao Phraya 2024” event at IconSiam, a popular shopping destination in Khlong San, Bangkok on December 9. This initiative aims to bolster the tourism economy and enhance the government’s Soft Power policy, particularly at the year-end peak. With tourists flocking along the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the event is expected to draw even larger crowds.



In the presence of various ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Minister of Tourism and Sports Mr. Suwong Thienthong, and Minister of Commerce Mr. Pichai Narippathapun, the Prime Minister emphasized the role of the event in encouraging both local and international visitors to explore Thailand’s rich cultural heritage. The event, which runs until December 15, showcases the shining beauty of the Chao Phraya River through drone light shows, vibrant performances, and the illumination of significant landmarks such as Wat Arun and the Rama VIII Bridge.



The “Vijit Chao Phraya 2024” is part of the ongoing Thailand Winter Festival, marking its third year. The event, which features innovative light and sound displays across 14 points of interest along the river, highlights the cultural diversity of Thailand. As part of the government’s strategy to attract more tourists, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) partnered with both public and private sectors to stimulate the tourism industry in the final month of the year.

The Prime Minister leads the charge in promoting the ‘Vijit Chao Phraya 2024’ event, encouraging both locals and international visitors to immerse themselves in the breathtaking displays along Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River until December 15.
