BANGKOK, Nov 12 – Former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his then deputy Suthep Thaugsuban will be summoned to the Criminal Court for indictment on Dec 12, a senior public prosecution official said today.

Nantasak Poonsuk, director general of the Special Litigation Department, said the two allegedly ordered the dispersal of demonstrators in the 2010 political unrest in Bangkok which killed nearly 100 people and injured many others.

Mr Abhsit and Mr Suthep, both now Democrat MPs, were protected from legal action or arrest during the parliamentary session. The present session is due to end early next month.

Mr Nantasak said the indictment against Mr Suthep will not be rescheduled despite his resignation from the House of Representatives today, consequently ending his parliamentary immunity.

The Dec 12 appointment was already set and it will not be changed, he said.
