BANGKOK, 9 January 2013 The Supreme Administrative Court on Wednesday refused to consider petitions filed by 29 Pheu Thai candidates who were not able to register for the upcoming election.

The 29 Pheu Thai candidates had asked the court to order the Election Commission to reopen registration venues for the election in 28 constituencies in 8 southern provinces so they could register. The registration was interrupted by protesters who wanted to see a political reform completed before the general election took place.

The court however said it did not have any jurisdiction to rule on election-related matters, adding that the power belonged to the Supreme Court as it was part of the election process.
