KRABI, Thailand – A dramatic incident unfolded at sea as a dive boat in the Andaman capsized. A passing fishing boat rescued all 10 crew members, bringing them safely back to shore.
Sunday morning (Dec 15), the Royal Thai Navy’s Maritime Security Unit on Koh Lanta Noi received a distress call from the Pladao Trip diving boat, located 8.6 nautical miles from the station.
The boat, which had departed from Koh Lanta Yai for diving at Koh Bida, began to sink after water flooded the vessel during engine repairs. A fishing boat happened to pass by and promptly rescued the crew.
Search operations for the sunken boat continued on Dec 16, supported by the Koh Lanta National Park and diving teams, despite challenges from strong currents and oil slicks in the area. (TNA)
