BANGKOK, 11 May 2015 – The Department of Groundwater Resources is urgently tackling water shortage in the drought-affected Nakhon Sawan after the province was declared disaster zone.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Groundwater Resources Suwat Piempatchai has traveled to Nakhon Sawan where all 15 districts have been seriously affected by drought. They are in dire need of water for consumption due to less than average rainfalls last year.

The deputy director-general instructed a provincial groundwater resources office in Suphan Buri to provide more than 5,000 bottles and 1,000 gallons of drinking water for people in Nakhon Sawan. The office will also provide 12,000 liters of water for them to use.
