BANGKOK, 5 November 2013 After having taken an oath of loyalty in front of the Emerald Buddha and the Royal Palace, anti-amnesty bill leader Suthep Thaugsuban yesterday led the demonstrators to the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Road.

Upon their arrival at the monument, the demonstrators observed 3 minutes of silence in remembrance of the victims of the 2010 anti-government protest. Mr. Suthep then announced to the protesters that the Democracy Monument is the group’s new stronghold as they would not return to Sam Sen train station anymore. The demonstration will continue until the government hears and responds to people’s demands, Mr. Suthep said.

Another Democrat Party member, Ongart Klampaiboon, later made an announcement to all protesters that Ratchadamnoen Road from Phan Fa Bridge up to the foot of Phra Pin-klao Bridge shall be cordoned off for the current anti-amnesty bill protest. He invited those who are interested to come and join the demonstration at the new site.
