AoT expects 2.6 million travelers during Songkran

BANGKOK, 9 April 2013  The Airport of Thailand (AoT) is expecting to see over 2.6 million travelers going through airports around Thailand during the Songkran holidays. 

The AoT revealed that during April 9-18, there will be a lot more flights than other times of the year, especially at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which will accommodate 844 flights daily, compared to 802 flights on a normal day. As a result, up to 164,000 passengers will connect their flights at Suvarnabhumi Airport daily during the Songkran Festival, compared to 157,000 passengers previously.

Meanwhile, the AoT expects to see 370 flights at Don Mueang Airport daily with 50,000 passengers a day during the festival.

It further disclosed that Phuket and Chiang Mai airports will see 30,000 and 15,000 travelers respectively on a daily basis.

As a result, the AoT hopes to see a total of 16,000 flights during the festival, while anticipating the number of travelers at all local airports to be around 2.68 million people.
