AYUTTHAYA, Thailand In a daring robbery, a lone thief armed with a firearm stole 160 baht of gold from a jewelry store inside a shopping mall in Ayutthaya. The incident occurred in less than one minute, with the suspect calmly fleeing the scene without being caught. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage and collecting evidence to track down the thief.

The robbery took place at 6:30 PM on March 23, when a man wearing a green hat and a black jacket, with his face concealed, entered the jewelry store. He pulled out a gun and threatened the staff, forcing them to fill a white cloth bag with gold necklaces. In total, the thief made off with three 20-baht necklaces, two 15-baht necklaces, and seven 10-baht necklaces, totaling 160 baht of gold.



Suspect’s Escape and Police Investigation

The thief, described as being about 170 cm tall, calmly walked out of the mall after committing the crime. Police forensic teams collected fingerprints and DNA evidence from the glass display case where the gold was kept. Preliminary investigations show that the suspect acted alone and quickly fled the scene by hiring a motorcycle taxi to a roadside rest area, 2 kilometers from the mall.

Pol. Col. Chanan Premploemjit, the station chief of Phra In Racha Police Station, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining whether the suspect used another vehicle to escape further. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
