Army ready for flood crisis in the South

Nakhon Si Thammarat, 9 Nov 2014 – The Army Region 4 voiced readiness to help residents in the flood-torn South.

According to Commander of the Fourth Army Region Maj-Gen Prakarn Cholayut, soldiers were dispatched to local administrative offices, and local disaster mitigation centers to help affected residents.

As for the southern border provinces, the 15th Infantry Division and other ad hoc units are ready to be converted into temporary disaster mitigation centers, if the situation turns critical.

Rescue equipment, vehicles, staff and survival kits have also been prepared to ensure that the locals will be assisted properly.

The Army will use local media, including local radio, and TV stations under the Public Relations Department to update the public on the flood situation. Those needing help can call 1341 around the clock or inform the nearest army units
