BANGKOK, 18 June 2015 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is encouraging the public to conserve water, as it tries to keep consumption under control.
Permanent Secretary of Agriculture and Cooperatives Chavalit Chookajorn said the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation has been instructed to perform cloud seeding operations to increase water levels in dams across the country.
The rainmaking operations are intended to maintain a steady supply for agricultural use during the summer and for the next rice growing season.
The department will launch operations from its 11 regional units, which cover most parts of the country. More than 2,000 flights have been made in 58 provinces since March this year to create artificial rain.
